Passionate about early flemish painting, Lee Keele wanted a still life. Getting to know her I discovered a very rich and interesting soul, so I decided I wanted to go beyond the traditional and make a portrait disguised as a still life. Lee lives and works in the shadows and out of sight of the public yet the very stories we encounter in our lives are effected by her. Lee is literary agent.
The painting itself captures her love of early flemish art. The fruit symbolizes life. The peeled fruit is Lee enjoying life. The bird is her passion to want to see and explore everything life has to offer. The eggs are the safety she retreats to when life gets overwhelming. The book (the story) is what allows her to live her life. Comfortable in the shadows but drawn to the light.
